The year is coming to an end, and we all hope that the next one will be better in every sense. For some, the outgoing year was calm, and for others – full of disappointments and difficulties. In any case, the winter holidays are the perfect time to take a short break to recuperate and prepare for the new semester at the university.
The most thing during the winter holidays is to fully relax and enjoy quality time with your loved ones. However, you should not forget about the exams and the assignments that have to be submitted after the holidays.
In my College years, I preferred to write my paper for College first, so the rest of the holidays can be devoted to fun activities only. Here are some simple tips that will help you enter a new period with a positive attitude.
Make A List Of Wishes And Plans

When the new year is approaching, it seems that 365 days is quite enough to achieve your goals for this period. We plan to travel more, learn to play the piano, improve our health, and communicate with our loved ones more often. However, time flies so fast that it is extremely rare to fulfill all your plans.
The list of wishes and plans for the next year will make everyday life more exciting and productive. Such a list will help you plan tasks more efficiently and use your time wisely. After all, we are all a little bit sinful of procrastination.
If there is no clear schedule of things to do, thoughts like “yes, where will it go from me … I’ll do it later” arise in my head. As a result, the plans are endlessly transferred from year to year, and at the age of 50, you will come to your senses that you have not sat down on the twine that you have dreamed of since the age of 25.
Remove The Electronic Devices
You use your phone and laptop all year round. Why not give yourself some rest? The more often you check your email, scroll through social media, and Google something, the more nervous you are about expectations from life, comparing yourself with someone.
Whenever you need to refresh your mind a little, put down your smartphone and look out the window for a couple of minutes. Removing gadgets is the best way to clear your mind and return to the “here and now”.
Look for an alternative to sitting on the phone. Instead, you can take a walk or read an interesting book, learn how to cook a delicious dish, or just spend time alone with yourself.
Good Night Sleep
Good sleep is important for the health of the whole body. It helps to recharge your energy, restore your nervous system and prepare for new life challenges. Therefore, if you took a walk before 3 a.m. with friends, be sure to sleep well after. Having enough sleep is essential for academic success.
However, it is not necessary to arrange endless midnight fun from the holidays. You need to balance between sleep and everyday tasks, even on vacation: if you get used to waking up at 2 p.m., it will be difficult to return to the usual study regime.
Create a clear schedule: wake up and go to bed at the same time. Sleep at least 8 hours at night, and you will feel more energetic and rested after the end of the holidays.
Day rest is no less important than night rest. If there are no problems with falling asleep in the evening, try to arrange a quiet hour in the daytime. It’s better to take a nap before lunch: if you lie down later, you can wake up in a state of “what planet am I on, and where are my grandchildren”.
If insomnia sometimes torments, it is better to remove daytime sleep. Instead, just give up mental and physical activity for 1 hour, in between chores. You can take a walk, look out the window, meditate, do breathing practice.
Be Kind To Yourself
Sometimes we think too much about the mistakes we made or the opportunities we missed. Don’t be hard on yourself analyzing the past year. We all make mistakes, and we all have flaws — we just need to accept this fact and learn to live a happy life, no matter what.
Looking back is not always useful, although learning life lessons makes us better. During the holidays, concentrate on the present tense and try to fill it with pleasant moments. Be kind to yourself: do your favorite hobby, enjoy food, have fun and relax. These are pretty simple things that make people happy.
Try Something New
Rebooting is not always rest and “doing nothing”. If you are one of those who reboot when doing something new, trying unusual dishes, or arranging a general cleaning of the house – go ahead! Do everything that the body and mind require to get rid of old experiences and make room for new impressions.
Trying new things is the only way to develop and grow. If a person has been swimming in the same “reservoir” for many years, he will not know what is beyond it. And there can be a lot of beautiful things there.
Allow yourself to broaden your horizons and get unusual life experiences to be filled with new impressions. There are so many life experiences to discover! Have you wanted to try toning your hair in purple for a long time? Why not! If you don’t like it, you can go to a specialist to restore the natural shade.

Wrapping Up
Holidays are an ideal opportunity to devote time to yourself. After all, during studying, my head is spinning, and there is practically no time to deal with myself.
