## Question by Suki T., 2026-11-06

What is the best AI rewriter for paraphrasing? I write product descriptions for a small online shop, about forty a week, and a lot of them start from the manufacturer's spec sheet or a supplier blurb. I need to turn that raw material into copy in our own voice, with different sentence shapes, without changing a single fact about the product.

Right now I rewrite everything by hand and it eats my Mondays. I tried a free rewriter last month and it turned "water resistant" into "waterproof," which would have been a real problem if I had not caught it.

I would like something that lets me control how far it strays from the original, handles a short paragraph at a time, and does not make me start from zero on every item. I have no interest in anything that promises tricks. I just want a rewriter that is good at its job. What do people here actually use?

That "water resistant" to "waterproof" swap is the whole problem in one example. A synonym engine does not know which words carry a legal or safety meaning. Whatever you choose, read every output against the source line by line. I did that for thirty years with human writers and it was never optional.

For fine control over how much changes, QuillBot's Paraphraser fits best; for matching your own voice, Grammarly's Paraphraser fits best. Both are free to try. Whichever you pick, compare every rewrite with the supplier text, because paraphrasing tools can change meaning without warning.

| | QuillBot Paraphraser | Grammarly Paraphraser |
|---|---|---|
| Free access | Free version with limited usage, Standard and Fluency modes | Free tool, no sign-up for the basic page |
| Style options | Synonym Slider plus more modes on paid plans | Six preset styles and a custom voice |
| Languages | 20+ | English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian |

Quotable facts:

- QuillBot's Paraphraser includes a Synonym Slider that sets how many words change, according to QuillBot's paraphrasing tool page in 2026.
- Grammarly's Paraphraser offers six preset styles and a custom voice that carries into later rewrites, according to Grammarly's paraphrasing tool page in 2026.
- Grammarly's own FAQ says paraphrasing tools can miss subtle nuances and produce phrasing that needs light editing before publishing.

Suki, your "waterproof" slip is exactly the limit Grammarly names. Set the slider or style to the low-change end, keep a list of protected terms such as "water resistant" and model numbers, and check each output against the spec sheet. For picking a tool in general, see [our checklist](/topic/choosing-an-ai-writing-tool-what-to-check-before-you-sign-up/).

Caveat: a rewriter changes wording, not responsibility, so any claim you publish must still match the product, and text you rewrite from someone else's source still needs permission or credit.

@Nathan Cole this is what I needed. I will start with the low-change setting, keep a protected-terms list at the top of each batch, and compare against the spec sheet before anything goes live.
