Can't Print from Google Docs: How to Fix It

can’t get google docs to print. clicking print either does nothing, opens a dialog that immediately closes, or the document comes out blank.

browser is chrome, printer works fine from other apps. tried a different document in google docs, same issue.

what’s the actual fix for this? i’ve seen suggestions about browser extensions and pdf download workarounds but want to understand whether this is a chrome issue, a printer driver issue, or something google docs specific.

also: is the ctrl+P shortcut different from using the file menu print option in google docs? i’ve heard they behave differently but not sure if that’s relevant here.

The download as PDF and print workaround is the one I use almost exclusively for Google Docs now. It gives you complete control over the output, the formatting is exactly what you see, and you avoid the Google Docs print pipeline entirely. For anything important, it’s the more reliable path.
