Firefox Monitor Review
Been using Firefox Monitor for about three months now, figured I’d write up my honest take.
What it does
Firefox Monitor checks your email address against known data breach databases and alerts you when your info shows up in a new breach. You can sign up with multiple email addresses and it monitors all of them passively. Free to use.
What I actually liked
Setup takes maybe two minutes. The breach notifications tell you what was exposed – email, password, phone number – rather than just saying “you were breached.” The dashboard is clean. Nothing fancy but readable.
Where it falls short
It’s reactive, not preventive. You find out after a breach has already happened and your data is already out there. The alerts also aren’t instant – there’s a lag between a breach being discovered and it being picked up. You might get an alert months after the actual incident.
No password manager integration either. It tells you a breach happened but won’t help you fix it.
Who it’s actually useful for
If you’re already Firefox-heavy and want something lightweight running in the background, it’s a decent passive layer. For zero effort and zero cost it does what it says.
Anyone been using it long-term? Curious if the monitoring has ever caught something a password manager missed.
