Is there a decent AI humanizer browser extension, or are the web-based standalone tools still better in terms of quality?
The workflow of copying text out to a separate website and back is annoying enough that I’d switch to an extension if the quality holds up. Most extensions I’ve seen in the Chrome store for this category have pretty thin reviews, and I can’t tell if that’s because the category is new or because the extensions themselves are mediocre.
Most browser extensions in this category are thin wrappers calling the same backend API as the web version of the same tool, so quality should theoretically be identical, the difference is purely workflow convenience.
Worth checking the extension’s permissions before installing, since it needs to read page content to function, which is a broader permission than most extensions need. Legitimate ones should be transparent about data handling in their privacy policy.
The thin review count is probably just category newness rather than quality issues specifically, this is a smaller niche than most extension categories so volume of reviews naturally lags behind more popular tool types.
My experience using one regularly: the convenience genuinely changes how often i actually humanize content versus skipping the step because copy-pasting felt like too much friction for a quick piece. Worth trying if the workflow friction is your actual blocker.
For professional use at volume I’d still recommend the web tool directly, since extensions sometimes lack the more granular settings (intensity, tone) available in the full web interface. Walter Writes’ web version specifically has more controls than its extension, worth knowing if you end up trying it.
