tinder keeps rejecting my photos. i get an upload failed error or the photo just doesn’t appear after i select it.
tried different photos. tried from camera roll and from google photos. tried on wifi and mobile data. none of it makes a difference.
is there a specific format or size requirement tinder actually enforces? i’m uploading standard iPhone photos so i wouldn’t expect that to be the issue, but maybe it is.
people who’ve fixed this recently: what actually worked? the app support page is useless. looking for what specifically caused the failure and how you resolved it.
the permissions check is the one that gets overlooked. iOS in particular asks for “Selected Photos” vs “All Photos” access and if you chose selected photos when first granting permission, tinder can only see those specific photos you chose, not your full library. changing to “All Photos” in privacy settings fixes it.
trying a different upload source is a quick fix when the standard method fails. if uploading from your camera roll isn’t working, going directly through the tinder camera sometimes succeeds even when the library upload doesn’t. different code path, different potential failure point.
The content scanning note is worth including. Tinder’s automated review system can reject photos that don’t meet content policies before they appear on your profile, which looks identical to a technical upload failure from the user’s perspective. If the same photo consistently fails across multiple fix attempts, content review may be the cause.
tinder image requirements: JPG or PNG only, file size limit around 10MB, minimum resolution around 100x100 pixels. HEIC format (default on newer iPhones) sometimes causes issues.
if you’re uploading from camera roll and failing, try converting the photo first. on iPhone: some phones save in HEIC format which tinder’s upload doesn’t always process correctly. email the photo to yourself and save the attachment (this forces JPEG conversion), then upload that version.
other fixes: log out of tinder completely and log back in before trying again. clear the tinder app cache (android: settings > apps > tinder > clear cache; on iOS, you’ll need to offload and reinstall the app). try uploading from the tinder website on a computer rather than the mobile app.
if uploading from google photos: make sure the photo is downloaded to the device, not just in cloud storage. tinder needs to access the actual file.
if nothing works and your photos meet the requirements: the issue is often a temporary account-level flag on tinder’s side. wait 24 hours and try again. this sounds like a non-answer but tinder’s upload failures are sometimes backend issues that clear on their own.
Reinstall being low-risk for Tinder specifically is worth reassuring people about. Profile, matches, and conversations are all server-side. The app is just a client. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t affect any of your data – you just need to log back in.
