Every year without fail Wrapped drops and every year people post about it not loading. I dealt with this myself and also helped a couple of friends who had the same issue. Here’s what’s actually going on.
Reason 1: Server overload
Spotify Wrapped launches to hundreds of millions of users simultaneously. The servers get hammered on launch day, especially in the first hour. This is the most common reason for loading failures – it’s not your account or your device, it’s Spotify’s infrastructure being overwhelmed by demand.
The fix: wait. Seriously. Give it 30-60 minutes and try again. The congestion usually resolves within a few hours of launch.
Reason 2: App cache issues
Stale cache data can cause Wrapped to fail to load or show a partial/broken experience.
On Android: Settings > Apps > Spotify > Storage > Clear Cache (not Clear Data – that removes your offline downloads).
On iPhone: offload the app (Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Spotify > Offload App), then reinstall from the App Store.
Log back in and try Wrapped again.
Reason 3: Outdated app version
Spotify pushes updates in sync with Wrapped’s launch to support the new features. If you’re running an old version, the Wrapped endpoint might not respond correctly.
Check for updates in your app store before doing anything else. On both Android and iOS, set Spotify to auto-update so this doesn’t happen again.
Reason 4: Account eligibility
Wrapped only appears for accounts that have listened to at least 30 songs from at least 5 different artists over the year. If you only recently created your account or primarily use Spotify through a family plan without individual listening activity, you might not have a Wrapped.
Also: Wrapped data is locked off after a certain date each year – usually late October or early November. Listening after that cutoff doesn’t count toward the current year’s Wrapped.
Reason 5: Region or account type
Wrapped is available in most regions but there are some markets where it’s either unavailable or delayed. Also, Spotify Free users may see a limited version compared to Premium. Check Spotify’s support page for current availability.
The fallback: access via browser
If the in-app experience isn’t loading, try opening Wrapped in a browser (Spotify). Sometimes the web version loads correctly when the app doesn’t, since they use different codepaths.
